Dog-friendly beaches in Charlestown

Charlestown Beach doesn’t welcome dogs, but there are some spectacular dog-friendly beaches near Charlestown for owners and their playful pooches to enjoy all year round.

Hemmick Beach is a lovely sandy stretch, located to the west of Dodman Point on the Roseland Peninsula. You’ll find a National Trust car park about a 10-minute walk away, which puts most people off, so you can usually enjoy this beautiful stretch of coast away from the crowds.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome on Gorran Haven Beach, a 25-minute drive from Charlestown. This picturesque village is dotted with fishermen’s cottages and is a popular spot for kayaking, swimming, and surfing.

Dog-friendly walks in Charlestown

Charlestown has a number of spectacular dog-friendly walks on its doorstep. Highlights include following the coastal path from Charlestown to Mevagissey, or from Charlestown to Porthpean. Pentewan Valley Trail and Luxulyan Valley are both rural gems that feature remnants of Cornwall’s former railways and mining past.
